Moshood Shehu is the Principal Counsel of MS&A Legal (formerly Moshood Shehu & Associates), a full-fledged service firm providing comprehensive legal services to leading organisations in the maritime, energy, agriculture and manufacturing sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Moshood obtained a 2nd Class (Upper Division) LL.B degree from the Ahmadu Bello University in 1990. He was called to the Bar in 1991 after bagging a 2nd Class (Upper Division) BL from the Nigerian Law School. He obtained his Masters of Law Degree, LLM, from the University of Lagos in 1998 and he is an alumnus of the International Law Program of the University of California, Davis, United States of America.
Moshood began his professional career as a counsel in the law firm of Popoola and Olajumoke in 1992. He was there till 1998 when he left to form the firm of Oniyangi, Shehu & Co with another colleague. He exited the partnership in 2002 to set up Moshood Shehu & Associates as a firm of legal practitioners and capital market consultants.
Moshood has extensive experience in company secretarial, commercial and transactional practice. His firm acts as company secretaries to several Nigerian companies including a foremost manufacturing public limited liability company. Moshood has advised several international companies seeking entrance into the Nigerian market and has midwifed the growth of several start-ups into formidable organisations. He consults widely for private clients and organisations on private wealth management, trust, tax, and estate planning.
As a maritime solicitor, Moshood was head of the “concessionaire legal team” that negotiated and drafted the first Build, Operate and Transfer Concession Agreement in the maritime industry in Nigeria. He also negotiated and facilitated the establishment and licensing of the first Organic Compost Plant in Nigeria.
Moshood is a member of several professional associations including Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Society of International Law. He is currently the Secretary of the Shipping Association of Nigeria.
Moshood is the Publisher of The Gravitas Review of Business & Property Law, Nigeria’s foremost and best-selling law journal. He is also the co-author (with Professor Taofeeq Abdulrazaq SAN, and Theophilus Emuwa) of the Nigerian Tax Handbook and Statutes published in 2020.
His hobbies include traveling, walking, and reading.
